Individuals, each aged around twenty years, were arrested by the national police for acts of assault and armed robbery in the cities of Ouagadougou and Ziniairé. Agents from the Police Station of District No. 05 of the city of Ouagadougou arrested this pair who were crisscrossing the arteries of Ouagadougou and Ziniaré, taking care to first identify the Orange Money shops and money transfer kiosks . 'As soon as their choice was made on a target,' explains the police, 'one of them presented themselves to the manager as being a customer who wishes to withdraw a sum of money of at least 500,000 FCFA. Once the availability of the amount is confirmed, it comes out without carrying out the operation with false pretenses. The pair stays around until the victim closes their workplace to return home. It is then that they tail her and, at the right moment, using their weapon, they keep her in check and strip her of her possessions and the day's takings before disappearing into the wild. The money obtained was distr ibuted among them and the bags, phones and other documents taken were left in other places so as not to leave any traces. It also happened that, in addition to the attacks, the pair carried out snatchings in the city of Ouagadougou and mainly at the North and West interchanges with women as their main targets. It should be noted that in one semester (January to June 2024), the pair have to their credit more than ten crimes committed and several million CFA francs taken. Thanks to the collaboration of the population, the investigators, at the time of the arrest of these individuals, seized several objects including an automatic pistol, magazines and ammunition, motorcycles, mobile phones and clothing items. The national police praised the population for their collaboration and encouraged each citizen to be extra vigilant and to report any suspicious cases they come across to the toll-free numbers made available to them: 17, 16 and 1010.
