ODOMASE: The Paramount Chief of Odomase, Odomfour Kwasi Apraku III, has called upon Vice President Alhaji Dr Mahamudu Bawumia to expedite efforts to resume the halted construction of the 'Agenda 111' hospital project in Odomase, located in the Sunyani West Municipality. According to Ghana News Agency, the main contractor for the project, construction progress had reached approximately 38 percent completion before it came to a standstill in February this year. This halt has led to significant layoffs, with about 90 percent of the local workforce being dismissed due to funding issues. During a recent visit to the construction site in Odomase, the Municipal capital, Odomfour Apraku III expressed his surprise and dissatisfaction over the abandonment of the project. He highlighted Odomase's alignment with the New Patriotic Party (NPP), indicating that completing the hospital would enhance the government's standing among the local populace. Odomfour Apraku III, who also serves as a medical practitioner in the U nited States, underscored the importance of completing the project to maintain the community's support for the NPP. He warned that failure to resume construction would be seen as ingratitude by the government. Mr Joseph Amissah, the Project Engineer from CONSAR Limited, reported that two sub-contractors, Build Us and Cheryl Limited, had vacated the site. He expressed hope that the government would take immediate action to restart the project. Amissah noted that the hospital, designed to be a 100-bed facility with a standard mortuary and auxiliary services, was initially slated for completion within 12 months after its commencement in 2022. With adequate funding, he believes the project could be finished in eight months.
