SWEDRU: The Agona West New Patriotic Party's Parliamentary Candidate, Mr. Chris Jojo Arhin Arthur, has donated 14 motorbikes to the Okada Riders' Association in Swedru. This initiative aims to economically empower the riders by providing them means to own motorbikes, thereby reducing the financial pressure of daily sales remitted to motorbike owners. According to Ghana News Agency, this donation marks the first phase of a project intended to support motor riders across five associations, totaling approximately 300 members. Mr. Arthur emphasized that the motorbike riders have expressed strong support for his candidacy, motivating him to aid in their economic independence and self-sufficiency. Additionally, Mr. Arthur has secured driving licenses for all association members from the Driver Vehicle and Licensing Authority (DVLA), reducing the risk of police confrontations. He also revealed plans to offer more motorbikes and assist members in acquiring vehicles through a 'work and pay' scheme. Mr. Arthur encou raged the youth to back Dr. Bawumia for President and himself for MP, promising job opportunities and improved livelihoods. He urged the riders to prioritize safety to prevent accidents and the resulting negative impacts on their families and community. Mr. Gabriel Anokye, Chairman of the Okada Riders Associations, expressed gratitude for the support and pledged to maintain the motorbikes. He affirmed the association's commitment to supporting Mr. Arthur and Dr. Bawumia in the upcoming December 7 elections. In related developments, the Ghana National Petroleum Company (GNPC) Foundation, in partnership with Chris Care Foundation, has provided start-up tools to 55 artisans to help them establish their businesses. The beneficiaries expressed their appreciation for the support and vowed to support Mr. Arthur in the December elections.
