TAMALE: CAMFED-Ghana Association (CAMA) has provided significant support for young girls and boys through the CAMA Foundation, aimed at enhancing the quality of education in rural areas. Ms. Shakiru Ali Pelpuo, National Secretary of CAMA, highlighted that the support includes the payment of school fees and the renovation of school structures in selected communities, facilitated through CAMA district initiatives. According to Ghana News Agency, Ms. Pelpuo made these remarks during CAMA's Annual General Meeting, which took place in Tamale under the theme 'Advancing the CAMFED Guide Programme Strategies to Achieve Targets.' The meeting focused on discussing strategies to further the Association's activities, ensuring young students remain in school, achieve academic success, and transition to various pathways. Ms. Pelpuo emphasized that CAMA has been actively involved in offering practical support to young students, along with entrepreneurship programs designed to economically empower its members. Some members have also joined CAMFED's Agriculture Guide Programme, which aids rural women farmers in adopting climate-smart techniques such as mulching, drought-resistant crops, and solar-powered irrigation. This initiative aims to boost productivity and enhance food security in the districts. Ms. Ramatu Abubakari, Chairperson of CAMA, noted that CAMA members have become business leaders, creating jobs and using a portion of their profits to support vulnerable children, ensuring their educational success.
