The President of the Medical Association said upcoming facilities such as the more than 100 hospitals being constructed nationwide under the multibillion-dollar Agenda 111 project could be considered for group practice by doctors and other health professionals. Dr. Serebour addressed the Minister of Health and the Special Advisor to the President on Health, suggesting that the government consider ceding some of the Agenda 111 projects to doctors and other health workers as group practice, allowing them to repay the government over time. He noted that the GMA had established a partnership with Stanbic Bank to support doctors in venturing into group practice with competitive rates, highlighting the necessity of diversifying income sources in a challenging economic climate. Dr. Serebour emphasized the need for medical professionals to innovate and seek economic independence, urging the m to explore new opportunities and support each other's businesses. He stressed the importance of maintaining high professional standards and ensuring these virtues translate into improved quality of life for professionals. Dr. Serebour also highlighted the increasing adoption of technology in medical service delivery in Ghana, raising concerns about the potential misuse of medical devices, as observed in the Middle East. In response, Health Minister Dr. Okoe-Boye assured of high standards in device and data security, particularly with the implementation of the nationwide electronic health data management system, the e-Health. Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, Running Mate for the New Patriotic Party in the upcoming elections and guest of honor at the event, called for a reevaluation of workforce orientation in the country, suggesting that doctors be empowered to operate private services. The conference saw the participation of over 1,000 GMA members in the Volta Region, with notable figures such as the Director General of the Ghana Health Service and leaders of various professional associations in attendance. Four members were inducted as Fellows of the Association, including the Health Minister and renowned Ghanaian scientist Professor Fred Newton Binka.
