Government Affirms Commitment to Enhancing Teachers’ Welfare: Bono Minister.

BEREKUM: Madam Justina Owusu-Banahene, the Bono Regional Minister, has emphasized the government's commitment to improving the welfare of teachers in the country. She praised teachers for their significant contributions to educational development and assured them of the government's efforts to enhance their working conditions. According to Ghana News Agency, the Regional Minister highlighted the government's substantial investments in the educational sector, aiming to improve the quality of education. She urged teachers to intensify their efforts to boost the academic performance of students and pupils. The Minister made these remarks during a get-together and awards ceremony organized by teachers in Berekum to honor exemplary educators in the municipality. Madam Owusu-Banahene reiterated the government's dedication to addressing the concerns of teachers, stating that President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo remains committed to improving teachers' conditions of service. She explained that the government is activel y working through various agencies and departments to enhance the teaching and learning environment. This includes the improvement of educational infrastructure and the implementation of policies aimed at professional development and the wellbeing of teachers. The Minister cited initiatives such as the 'One Teacher, One Laptop' program, which provides laptops to teachers, as part of the incentive packages designed to motivate educators. She called on teachers to support government efforts to provide quality education and urged them to vote to retain the New Patriotic Party (NPP) government in the upcoming polls on December 7. This, she stated, would allow Vice President Alhaji Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia to win the general election and continue the government's efforts to improve the lives of teachers and citizens alike.
