Justice Minister Leila Jaffel met with a group of whistleblowers on Monday, stressing the importance of whistleblower protection and the need to implement it in practice in accordance with the requirements of the law. "This is in line with the state's decisions to fight corruption, manipulation of public funds and harm to national interests," a ministry statement quoted her as saying. The group of whistleblowers raised a number of concerns, in particular the difficulties they face in reporting practices that constitute various forms of corruption and cause damage to national interests and public funds in various sectors. They called for strengthening the legal framework for the protection of whistleblowers. In this regard, the Minister considered that "the path of combating corruption and the misappropriation of public funds is part of the national liberation war, as the President of the Republic has emphasised on many occasions."
