The Chiefs and people of the 36 states of Anlo have invited Daasebre Akuamoah Agyapong II, Paramount Chief of Abene Kwahu as Chairman at their annual traditional festival, Hogbetsotsoza happening in November. The invitation was officially extended to the Kwahuhene last week during a visit of a delegation of chiefs from the Anlo Dukor led by Togbi Amey Zegu II of Alakple, with Mr Ken Kpedor and Mr Godsway Hanyabui, President and Vice President (Operations) respectively of Anlo Youth Council, the umbrella body of the youth of Anlo. This invitation to the Kwahuhene meant an invitation to the entire Kwahu kingdom to celebrate the famous festival, also known as Hogbeza which commemorates the legendary exodus of the Ewe-Dogbo folks from Notsie in present-day Togo, with the Anlos. Mr Kpedor in an interview with Ghana News Agency said Daasebre Agyapong as Chairman would help bring the two kingdoms together as part of the bigger objective of using the Hogbeza platform to foster unity, peace, and national cohesion. Mr Kpedor called on Anlo citizens, home and abroad especially the youth to get involved in the 2024 celebration particularly because its organisation was being led for the first time, by the Anlo Youth Council, urging them to regard Hogbeza as more than just a festival. 'Hogbetsotsoza is not just a festival; it's a call to action. It's a reminder that our destiny lies in our hands. By actively participating in the festival, we ensure that it continues to benefit us and generations to come. Let's get involved, celebrate our heritage, and build a brighter future together.' Celebrated every first Saturday in November at Anloga, the traditional and ritual capital of the Anlo Dukor, Hogbetsotsoza attracts chiefs and people across Eweland, other parts of the country and from the diaspora to witness the display of rich tradition and culture of the Anlo people. This year's celebration is being held under the theme, 'Strengthening Bonds and Embracing Our Shared Heritage.' Source: Ghana News Agency
