Accra: Former First Lady Lordina Dramani Mahama has met queen mothers in the Bono, Ahafo, and Bono East regions to campaign for votes for her husband, John Dramani Mahama, highlighting the manifesto promises of the National Democratic Congress (NDC). According to Ghana News Agency, the engagements are part of Mrs. Mahama's nationwide campaign to interact with traditional leaders, women, and various groups to garner their support for her husband. Nana Serwaa Brakatu Bonsu II, president of the Bono East Region Queen Mothers Association, along with her fellow queen mothers, commended Mr. Mahama for significant initiatives during his tenure as Vice president and president. These initiatives include the introduction of allowances for paramount queen mothers, the provision of buses for regional queen mothers, and numerous developmental projects such as the Mahama E-Blocks, educational and health facilities, and infrastructure improvements like roads. The queen mothers expressed concern over the neglect and lack of development since the creation of their regions from the former Brong Ahafo. They urged Mrs. Mahama to convey their grievances to the NDC presidential candidate, asking him to resume work on abandoned projects such as the Wenchi and Ofuman roads and the Wenchi SHS girls' dormitory after his potential re-election in December. They also praised Mrs. Mahama for her efforts during her time as First Lady and while in opposition, particularly for recognizing the role of queen mothers and women. Furthermore, the queen mothers requested that more women be included in the next NDC administration, emphasizing that Ghanaian women have the capacity to excel at every level if given the opportunity.
