Manso-datano: Mr Kwame Amponsah, the Assemblyman for Manso-Datano in the Amansie South, has donated 15,000 pieces of exercise books to Junior High School (JHS) pupils in the district for enhanced learning. He has also promised to provide chop boxes and trunks to all candidates for the Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE), who successfully passed their examinations and gained admission into Senior High Schools (SHS).

According to Ghana News Agency, Mr Amponsah has pledged to give every JHS graduate who continued to the SHS a cash amount of GHc 1,000.00 to motivate and encourage them to learn hard. Mr Amponsah said the gesture aimed at promoting quality education and easing the burden on parents, forming part of his broader educational initiative designed to ensure that no child in Amansie South was left behind due to a lack of basic learning materials.

He told the Ghana News Agency after presenting the exercise books that the initiative was born out of his deep desire to see education thrive in the district. He noted that education remained the strongest weapon to fight poverty and unlock the developmental potential of the area.

‘It is my heartfelt wish and prayer that in the years ahead, Manso and the entire Amansie South District, will produce doctors, engineers, lawyers, professors, nurses, journalists, and other great professionals, who will lift the name of our district high,’ Mr Amponsah stated. He took the opportunity to appeal to parents and guardians to invest more in their children’s education rather than spending heavily on funerals, luxury clothing, and other extravagant social events.

He reiterated that education was the only legacy that parents could leave for their children-one that no other person could take away from them. Mr Amponsah advised parents that ‘Before spending money on lavish funerals or unnecessary expenses, parents must first ensure their children’s education is secured. That is the surest path to a better future.’

He expressed concern about the poor state of some schools in the district, noting that some pupils attended classes barefooted, while others still studied under trees due to inadequate infrastructure. He described the situation as distressing and called on all stakeholders, including traditional authorities, development partners, and philanthropists, to support education in the area since it remained a shared responsibility.

Following the donation, beneficiary students and headteachers expressed their deep appreciation and heartfelt gratitude to Mr Amponsah for his outstanding show of support. The pupils pledged to study hard to justify the confidence he had placed in them and the promised investment.
