Town planning and traffic congestion are the main themes of the programmes of the candidates in the municipality of Hammamet-West. Candidate Hachem Derouiche said he would work for the adoption of a new urban model and the modernisation of infrastructure to promote economic development in the region. He promises to promote good governance, transparency and the fight against corruption, to ensure the rehabilitation of schools and to provide support for families in need. Candidate Mohamed Lagha promises to solve the problem of traffic congestion in Hammamet-sud by widening the Oued Baten road and building a multi-storey car park. His priorities include preserving Hammamet's beach and protecting it from erosion, the environment and beautifying shop windows. Both candidates are vying for a seat on the Hammamet-sud municipal council. Hammamet has 24 candidates spread over nine delegations. Source: Agence Tunis Afrique Presse
