North Tongu: The National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE) in the North Tongu district has conducted its second Inter-Party Dialogue Committee (IPDC) engagement to emphasize the importance of maintaining peace before, during, and after the December elections. This effort aims to foster collaboration among stakeholders to ensure a harmonious electoral process. According to Ghana News Agency, the committee, comprising members from civil society, persons with disabilities, the police, Electoral Commission (EC), and Commission on Human Rights and Administrative Justice (CHRAJ), convened to discuss strategies for promoting issue-based election campaigns by political parties. Mr. Daniel Glikpo, the NCCE District Director, shared insights from NCCE's research titled 'Matters of Concern to the Ghanaian Voter,' highlighting that Ghanaians prioritize education, employment, health, roads and infrastructure, and economic issues. Mr. Glikpo called on IPDC members to support efforts to ensure peaceful elections. Tog bi Tsatron, the Chief of Manya and Chairperson of the IPDC, urged members to preserve the peace in Ghana. Mr. Elvis Addo, representing the EC, assured that the Electoral Commission is committed to conducting free and fair elections. He mentioned that a Collation Officer would be employed, and approximately 800 temporary staff per district would be deployed to facilitate a successful election, with polling stations exceeding 751 voters being split into two. Security agency members jointly pledged to ensure the election's success and uphold the law throughout the electoral process.
