Rainfall deficit exceeds 94% in most regions (ONAGRI)

Tunisia recorded less than 1.5mm of rainfall from September 1 to November 15- by far lower than the average in this period. The rainfall deficit exceeded 94% in most regions, the National Observatory of Agriculture (French: ONAGRI) said. The largest quantities were registered in the northeast (7.2 mm) and northwest (5.4 mm). The total dam yield in the same period amounted to 20.7 million m3, down from the 241.5 million m3 average and the volume recorded from September 1 to November 15, 2022 (51.4 million m3). This is shared out as follows: 87.9% in the north, 9.9% in the midland and 2.3% in the Cap Bon region. Overall water reserves in dams stood at 520.3 million m3 on November 15 against 676.5 million m3 on the same day in 2022. They shrank 30.4% compared to the average on the same day during the last three years (747.6 million m3). They are as follows: 90.8% in the north, 8.6% in the midland and 0.6% in the Cap Bon region.
