Takoradi: Reconstruction of the 23-kilometre dual carriage Takoradi-Agona Nkwanta National Highway 1 (N1) is progressing steadily with about 35 per cent of work done so far. Mr John Essah Amissah, the Takoradi Area Manager of the Ghana Highway Authority (GHA), disclosed this to journalists during a tour of the project site. He noted that concrete, bridges, pavements, and earthworks had been completed at various sections of the road, with ongoing efforts to ensure the project's successful completion. According to Ghana News Agency, the project began in March this year and is expected to be completed in 36 months. It is being executed by Justmoh Construction Limited, with funding from GCB Bank PLC. The reconstruction scope includes rehabilitating an existing 3.8-kilometre dualised portion from Takoradi to Apremdo, as well as building two major bridges at Ewusiejoe and Apremdo. Additional works involve the construction of extra lanes to dualise the stretch from Apremdo to Agona Nkwanta, culverts, walkways, and medians. Mr Amissah expressed optimism that the reconstruction would be completed within the specified timelines, which would help alleviate traffic congestion and facilitate socio-economic activities. Dr Justice Amoh, Chief Executive Officer of Justmoh Construction Limited, assured that his team would work diligently to meet the project deadlines. He mentioned that they are on track and have adopted strategies to increase production by extending work hours. Dr Amoh further requested cooperation from commuters and residents using the road, acknowledging potential inconveniences during construction. He emphasized the importance of adhering to safety directives, including signages and diversions, to expedite the project's progress.
