JICA/PAM: Training on 'Kaizen' concept for Libyan candidates with support of Tunisian expertise
A training session on the "Kaizen" concept, a Japanese method of continuous improvement of productivity and quality, targeting 42 young Libyan entrepreneurs and civil servants was launched thanks to the expertise Tunisia, is being held from November 13 to 24, by the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA). The training is initiated by JICA and the United Nations World Food Program (WFP), in collaboration with the Ministry of Industry, Mines and Energy, JICA said in a press release published Monday in Tunis. In Tunisia, the "Kaizen" approach was launched in 2009 by JICA and the Ministry of Industry and Small and Medium Enterprises in major Tunisian companies as well as in technical centers. Provided by Tunisian master trainers for the second time this year, this training is destined to Libyan participants wishing to increase their knowledge of the concept of improving productivity and quality "Kaizen". The training will help them acquire new skills and deepen their knowledge so as to overcome the cha llenges they face in business and in their communities. Participants will have the opportunity to visit model Tunisian companies, which have applied the "Kaizen" concept and obtained interesting results in terms of improving productivity and quality. Director General of the management unit of the national programme for the promotion of quality and productivity (UGPQP), Zouheir Makhloufi, pointed out that «the Tunisian experience has made it possible to train Master Trainers in «Kaizen» in eight industrial sectors. «Tunisian companies have been able to take full advantage of this expertise. We have started a new stage with a training programme on «Kaizen» in the field of health, thanks to our cooperation with JICA,» Makhloufi added. Resident Representative of JICA Tunisia, Miyata Mayumi, affirmed that «After more than fifteen years of cooperation between Tunisia and JICA in the disseminating the concept of Kaizen, Tunisia has become one of the African leaders in the field.» Tunisian companies have won the first prizes of the Africa Kaizen Awards for the last four years since 2020, thanks to their performance in applying «Kaizen» as well as the quality of Tunisian experts who were trained in collaboration with JICA. , she congratulated herself Chargé d'affaires of the Japanese Embassy in Libya, Amadera Masaki, indicated that the cooperation between JICA and WFP in the organization of this training will help develop the capacities of Libyan participants and their skills in various sectors of activities.
